Iran, Afghanistan joint trade expo. opens in Herat

TEHRAN, Nov. 02 (MNA) – The 10th Iran-Afghanistan joint exhibition of commerce was inaugurated in the Afghan city of Herat on Tuesday.

A total of 45 Iranian companies as well as 15 Afghan firms are taking part at the event, entitled ‘the Solo Exhibition of Islamic Republic of Iran in Afghanistan’, and are showcasing their products to visitors.

Governor General of Khorasan Razavi Province Alireza Rashidian had arrived the west Afghan province of Herat on Sunday October 30 at top of an economic delegation.

Over the first two days after his arrival, Rashidian attended meetings with local officials, including his counterpart Mohammad Asif Rahimi, discussing and exchanging views on issues of common interest.

A trilateral session, attended by Afghan governors and business men as well as governor general of Khorasan Razavi Province was held to discuss venues for expansion of bilateral ties between the two states.

During the meeting, Head of Herat Chamber of Commerce and Industries Haji Saeed Khatibi called for formation of specialized committees between Mashhad and Herat as a means of removing barriers on expansion of joint trade between the two parties.

Representatives of Khorasan Razavi and Herat provinces also formed three committees including security and economy, transit and transport as well as education, cultural and health ones.
